Preschool (3-year-old):

Spark Story Bible and Book Bag

Preschoolers and their families are welcomed to the Sunday/Wednesday school experience. They learn about the Spark Story Bible, how to navigate it, and discover the stories of God and his son Jesus. Students receive a Bible bag made by the BLC Peacemakers. Preschoolers receive their 1 Spark Story Bible during worship.

Pre-Kindergarten: Prayer Pillow

Pre-K students and their families explore ways to communicate with God through prayer. They read/listen to a story about prayer, talk about different ways to pray, and participate in prayer station activities. Students receive their prayer pillows, made by BLC members, during worship.

1st Grade: Hand-held Cross

First graders and their families explore the importance of prayer and learn about the many ways to pray. Each student receives a hand-held cross as a reminder that they can talk to God about anything, anytime, anywhere.

2nd Grade: Lord’s Prayer

Second graders and their families learn about how Jesus taught us to pray. They practice talking with God by praying with family and exploring the Lord’s Prayer together. Students are gifted a prayer book in worship titled

“The Most Important Prayer of All - Stella Learns the Lord’s Prayer”.

3rd Grade:

Spark Hardcover Bible

Third graders gather with their families and learn about the NRSV Bible they will receive in worship. A milestone member will introduce and explore some of the features included in their new bible, such as kid-friendly introductions to the books of the Bible, definitions, facts, trivia, and questions to help kids think about their faith. Students will dive in further as they use their Bible in weekly Christian education classes.

4th Grade:

Fourth graders and their families will learn about different ways to serve in the church as ushers, communion servers, greeters, readers etc. After learning about the options they will sign up to serve together for a worship service.

5th Grade:

Fifth graders gather together to celebrate their transition from Elementary School to Middle School. During their last Sunday or Wednesday School class, they will go to the youth center and get a taste of what Route 67 will bring next year.

First Communion

First Communion class teaches children about the significance of the sacrament of Holy Communion. At Bethlehem, families are welcome to decide when their children will receive First Communion. Most children take the class in mid to upper elementary, though any age is welcome. Typically, there are 2 classes held each year: one in the spring and one in the fall. Contact the church office to see when the upcoming class will be held.
